The West Indian Social Club recently announced the opening of the Caribbean Heritage Museum, showcasing the story of the diaspora and the waves of migration that has shaped the diverse and vibrant West Indian community in Hartford.

A meticulously gathered collection that displays the researched historical timeline of their migration, family relics that have survived years of displacement, and oral history that dates back 100 years, Dr. Fiona Vernal, Chief Curator of the museum has brought this space to life.

Dr. Vernal along with the West Indian Social Club envisioned this museum to serve as a place of education and pride not only for the West Indian community but also for people interested in exploring the narratives and authentic voices that are often only preserved orally through generational storytelling.
