Levo International, a nonprofit organization based in Hartford, is determined to make nutrient-rich food more accessible and address the food desert that engulf upper Albany and the areas around it.

As a volunteer-driven organization, volunteers are the absolute lifeline of Levo International's mission, driving the core of their work to empower communities to overcome poverty through sustainable food security solutions. By donating their time and energy, volunteers directly contribute to building innovative urban farms, distributing essential resources, educating the next generation of global citizens, and fundraising.

The organization uses hydroponic systems to grow vegetables and fruits in water-based nutrient-rich solutions instead of soil. The idea of plants growing without soil may seem like something out of a sci-fi movie; however, it is much simpler than one would think. Read more about Levo International's commitment to help communities in Hartford get access to healthy food.
